今日はワイキキより東側、カピオラニ・パークの散策へ。

Today went for a walk in Kapiolani Park, east of Waikiki.

１年前と比べ、ワイキキにはサーフボードを持って歩く若者が増えた。

Compared to a year ago, more young people walking around Waikiki with surfboards.

カピオラニパーク入口にある、ガンジーの銅像。ハワイとの関係は諸説あるようだが不明。

A bronze statue of Gandhi at the entrance of Kapiolani Park. Many theories about his relationship with Hawaii, but it was unknown.

パークの一部、カパフル通に面したホノルルズー。上野動物園と同じくらいの広さ。

Honolulu Zoo, part of the park, facing Kapahulu Avenue. About the same size as the Ueno Zoo.

カピオラニパークから見るダイアモンドヘッド。別名Kaimana Hilaとは、ハワイ語でダイアモンドの丘という意味。この時期のダイアモンドヘッドは青々としている。

Diamond Head as seen from Kapiolani Park. Also names as Kaimana Hila, "diamond hill" in Hawaiian. At this time of year, Diamond Head was lush and green.

カイマナ・ビーチホテルへ。ゴールドコーストに建つこのホテルは、ニューオータニ時代から静かで隠れ家的な良いホテルだったが、今は現地のブラックサンドキャピタル傘下となり、一層魅力あるホテルとなった。

Went to Kaimana Beach Hotel. This hotel on Gold Coast was a nice, quiet, secluded hotel in the days of New Otani, now was owned by the local fund, Black Sand Capital, and became even more attractive.

ブランチで有名なレストラン「ハウツリーラナイ」。新しい人気シェフのもと、評判だったエッグベネディクトも続けられているらしい。

Hau Tree Lanai, a restaurant famous for its brunch. They continued with their popular eggs Benedict under a new capable chef.

海岸沿いを歩いてワイキキに戻ると、ベアフットビーチカフェ。以前は海の家と称する売店だったが、店の前にカフェができている。

Walking along the coast back to Waikiki, came across Barefoot Beach Cafe. It used to be a shop called "Umi no Ie (beach house)", but now there had a cafe space in front.
