お正月。年末年始をゆっくり自宅で過ごすのは3年ぶり。今年は気温は低めだが、いつものように朝から晴天。

New Year's Day.  It's been three years since spent the New Year's days at home.  The temperature was lower this year, but it was sunny from the morning as usual.

元旦の朝は、札幌の根室花まるから届いたおせちを頂く。年末に伺った際に注文。

花咲蟹とホタテなどは根室から。

In the morning of New Year's Day, had Osechi (New Year's Lunch box) food delivered from Nemuro Hanamaru in Sapporo.  Ordered it when visited at the end of the year.
Hanasaki crab and scallops were from Nemuro.

お屠蘇と、白味噌仕立てのお雑煮。

今日の白味噌は備州(岡山備前)のもの。

Otoso (spiced sake) and Zoni Bowl made with white miso.
Today's white miso was from Bishu (Okayama Bizen).

東京で購入した鶴屋吉信の花びら餅。

花びら餅は新年を祝う、由緒ある和菓子。

"Tsuruya Yoshinobu's" Hanabira Mochi purchased in Tokyo.
Hanabira Mochi was a traditional Japanese confectionary to celebrate the New Year.

公園では多くの家族連れが凧揚げを楽しんでいる。

Many families were enjoying flying kites in the park.

雲一つない晴れ渡った空に夕陽が沈む。道の向こうには富士山のシルエット。

The sun was setting in a clear, cloudless sky. Across the road, the silhouette of Mt. Fuji.

菅原道真を祀る神社では、もう小さき愛らしい梅が咲き始めていた。

At the shrine dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, the past genius, the lovely little plum trees already began to bloom.

翌2日。世の中では初売や書初めの日。例年は一般参賀だが今年は残念ながら中止に。

朝はまず箱根駅伝(往路)を見ながらおせちを。

The next day was the 2nd.  The day of the first sale in retailers and the first day of calligraphy.  And the visit to Imperial Palace but this year, it was cancelled.
In the morning, watched the Hakone Ekiden marathons (outward) and had Osechi.

お屠蘇と白味噌仕立てのお雑煮。今日の白味噌は、京都(油小路)のもの。やはり白味噌は京都かな。

Otoso and Zoni bowl made with white miso.  Today's white miso was from Kyoto (Aburakoji).  Though Kyoto was the best place for white miso.

お屠蘇は本当は三段の盃全てを飲むらしいが、控えめに一つだけで。

It was the rule to drink all three cups of slaughter, but wanted conservative and had only one.

花びら餅も。そろそろ箱根駅伝往路も箱根のゴールへ。

Hanabira Mochi.  It was almost time for the Hakone Ekiden outward route to reach the goal in Hakone.
