いつもの散歩ルート、中島公園からすすきのを通り過ぎて、大通り公園とテレビ塔。
The usual walking route from Nakajima Park, past Susukino to Odori Park and the TV Tower.
途中で見つけた天ぷらレストラン「天ぷら弥平」。エルムガーデンという地元の和食店が運営しているらしい。
On the way, found a tempura restaurant "Tempura Yahei". It seems run by a local Japanese restaurant "Elm Garden".

半熟卵の天ぷらは、ご飯に乗せてタレをかけて食べるのが店のお勧め。北海道では最近、天丼や海鮮丼などに最後に卵をかけて頂くのが流行らしい。ジャンクな食べ方だが真似をして北海道以外でも生卵の黄身をかけるようになってしまった。
The restaurant's recommendation was to serve the half-boiled egg tempura over rice with sauce. In Hokkaido, it seemed a recent trend to serve tempura bowls or seafood bowls with an egg on top at the end. It's a junk way of eating, but started to imitate it and put egg on top of rice even outside Hokkaido.
日本酒メニュー。北海道産以外の部では新しいスタイルの酒への意気込みが感じられる。
Sake menu. In the non-Hokkaido sake section, could see the enthusiasm for new style sakes.
ワインメニュー。手頃な価格で「天ぷら＋ワイン」という流れ。北海道産ワインの部もあれば良いのに。これはニューヨークでも感じたこと。ニューヨーク州にはロングアイランドやフィンガーレイクスに素晴らしいワインがあるのに、レストランには高く売れるカリフォルニアワインばかりだった。
Wine menu. Reasonably priced to match to the "tempura + wine" trend. Wish they had a Hokkaido wine section.
外に出るとポプラ並木と北海道庁赤れんが庁舎。陽も傾いてきた。北国の日暮は早い。
Outside, saw poplar trees and the Hokkaido Government Red Brick Building. The sun was beginning to set. The sun set early in the north county.
