Went to "Osteria Il Canto del Maggio" in Karasuma. Wanted to visit this Italian restaurant for a long time. Finally made it. The restaurant was only open on limited time and by reservation, and alcohol was not served.
Raining in the afternoon, but cleared up and walked there. At the end of Gojo Street, Kiyomizu-dera Temple on Otowa Mountain was shining in the setting sun light.
Entering Sakai-machi Street from Shijo Street, crossed Nishiki Market. In the evening, the stores of the market started closing.
Further up Sakai-machi Street is "Osteria Il Canto del Maggio".
The menu outside.
Today's menu. Since a state of emergency has been declared in Kyoto, they have reduced the number of items on the regular menu.
The favorite, stewed tripe.
Pappardelle with eggplant, Manganji pepper and beef ragout.
Bone-in bistecca. Bistecca is an Italian accent for beef steak. Especially T-bone steak.
Excellent lean meat.
For dessert, of course, had tiramisu. Excellent.
The owner chef, Mr. Tamura, trained at a restaurant in Tuscany for more than 10 years. Felt his attention to detail here and there, which made feel as if were dining in Tuscany. A little wondered if could enjoy the meat dishes without wine, but concerns were unfounded. Could concentrate on the meat dish. Would definitely like to revisit when wine becomed available after Covid. Thank you very much for the meal.
