Went to "Rokkatei Cafe" in Maruyama.
Their menu cover, the floral design of Rokkatei is by Chokko Sakamoto, well known to the local people. He is a painter with roots in the Sakamoto family from Kochi and is the grandson of Sakamoto Ryoma's nephew.
Their food menu.
Beef stew. The long-cooked beef was tender and delicious.
Tonge stew. Looked the same as beef stew, but has a richer flavor.
Blueberry parfait for dessert. Everything at Rokkatei was delicious and reasonably priced. They have stores only in Hokkaido, but can see why they are so popular here.
At night, had a tomato and asparagus salad and hamburger steaks. With a Secoma G7 Chardonnay.
The next day, decided to cook "Sugo alla genovese", not a basil sauce known as Pesto genovese, but a famous Napoli style sauce. Paired it with Haut Medic red wine (Chateau du Haut Queray) bought at Wine Shop Fujii. The first Bordeaux blend in a while. Very satisfied.
There are many recipes to make Napoli style Sugo alla genovese, and they all fry a lot of onions and beef and then simmer them for a long time.
