The day before the last day in Okinawa, took an one-hour drive from Naha to a remote island. Went to Hamahigajima Island, located on the east side of the main island of Okinawa. Took the ocean road to cross over to Henzajima Island, and crossed the Hamahiga Bridge.
Along with "Kudakajima Island" a little to the south, this island is called the island of the gods and the birthplace of Ryukyu (Okinawa), so has many power spots.
The long ocean road leading from the main island to Henzajima Island is about 5 km long. It is the perfect driving course for those who want to see the beautiful sea while driving. It is said the longest bridge road in Asia, built on a causeway in shallow water. There is a road park along the way where can enjoy the beautiful scenery, and also a marine station "Ayahashi Kan" with a specialty store and restaurant, and a beach in the middle of the road where can enjoy marine sports.
Looking towards Henzajima Island from the middle of the ocean road, saw a large oil storage base.
Drove aross to Hamahigajima Island. "Amanji" is a small island where the goddess Amamichu, the founder of Ryukyu, is worshipped. The cave on the island is visited by a steady stream of tourists. It is also said the origin of the word "Amami" (islands).
The cave where the other god, "Silmichu", is worshipped. Visited the cave on the top of the 100 plus steps. There were many couples there. Adam and Eve of Ryukyu.
Families relaxed on the beautiful emerald green sea and beach.
Back in Naha, bought Ishigaki beef at the meat shop "I ❤️ Beef Okinawa". A nice store.
Bought a South African Bordeaux blend at Granato, a small wine shop. A store where can always get right advices.
On the last day of the hotel's welcome drink, had white wine and, for the first time, Awamori.
Ishigaki beef ribs. The fat was sweet and the more bit it, the more flavorful it was.
The wine was a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from South Africa. A Bordeaux blend is the best for the meat dish.
