晴天の朝、ホテルのチェックアウト前に駅まで散歩。平和通り買い物公園を通って旭川駅に向かう。旭川駅・北口はショッピングモールとホテルで再開発がどんどん進んでいる。

On next sunny morning, took a walk to the station before checking out of the hotel.  Walked through the Heiwa Dori Shopping Park to Asahikawa Station.  The north exit of Asahikawa station is being redeveloped with shopping malls and hotels.

一方、構内を通り抜けた駅南口は川が流れるのどかな銀世界。このコントラストが最高。

On the other side, the south exit of the station, through which passed, was a peaceful silver world with a river running through it.  This contrast is the best.

午後は雄大な雪景色をゆっくり楽しみ寄り道しながらトマムリゾートへ向かう。

美瑛から観た大雪山系旭岳遠望。

In the afternoon, enjoyed the magnificent snowy scenery and drive and sometimes took a detour to the Tomamu Resort.  Distant view of Mt. Asahidake of Taisetsu Mountains from Biei.

十勝岳方面、望岳台を目指して登ってみたが、雪が深く途中で通行止めになり引き返す。

Tried to drive up toward Tokachi-dake and the Bogakudai observatory, but the snow was so deep that the road was closed and had to turn back.

キタキツネ。夏は痩せ細っていたが、冬はもふもふ。調べたら冬は冬毛で健康的に見えるらしい。夏はあまりに貧相で心配したが今は安心。

A Kitakitsune fox.  They were so skinny in the summer, but in the winter they are fluffy.  Found out that they look healthyer in winter because of their winter fur.  Worried about them in summer because they looked so poor but now relieved.

(昨年夏に知床や銭函で会ったキタキツネ達 Kitakitsune foxes met in Shiretoko Pass or Zenibako in last summer)

ランチは、上富良野の焼肉の名店「まるます」へ。炭火焼肉店で「豚サガリ」が人気。

For lunch, went to "Marumasu", a famous yakiniku restaurant in Kamifurano.  It is a charcoal barbecue restaurant and its "pork sagari" is popular.

メニューには「今夜は焼肉、明日からダイエット」。

The menu says, "Have yakiniku barbecue tonight, and let's start diet tomorrow.

お得なランチコース。豚さがり・カルビ定食と、タン・カルビ定食を頂くことに。

A reasonable lunch courses.  Decided to have the Pork sagari and Kalbi set meal and the Tongue and Kalbi set meal.

オーダーして暫くすると、卓上七輪が運ばれてくる。豚さがりとは、豚一頭に300g弱しかない希少な横隔膜「さがり」で、上富良野では生肉を提供し、地元に愛されているらしい。

A few moments after ordering, a tabletop shichirin grill was brought out.  Pork sagari is a rare diaphragm "sagari" that only weighs less than 300 grams per pig, and it is served fresh in Kamifurano and is loved by the locals.

こんがり焼いて、素材の味を引き出す自家製タレで満喫。北海道は海産物が注目されがちだが、肉も美味。そして、七輪で焼くのが最高であることを再確認した。ご馳走さまでした。

Grilled the meats to perfection and enjoyed with homemade sauce that brought out the flavor of the ingredients.  Hokkaido tends to be known by its marine products, but the meat is also delicious.  Reconfirmed that meat is best grilled on a shichirin charcoal grill.  Thanks for the meal.
