Had a beer on the lanai of the hotel while enjoying the afternoon sun.
The late afternoon view of the beach from the lanai was relaxing.
The sun set between the clouds.
Tonight we started with an oaky Chardonnay from La Crema.
Getting a little tired of western foods, so made ginger roasted pork loin for a dinner.
The recipe was from the chef Johnny (Chez Johnny), but the results here were quite different. It was difficult to control the grill temperature because of the thicker meat loin, and became overcooked and hard.
ワインはソノマのCHERRY PIE PINOT NOIR
The wine was a Sonoma CHERRY PIE PINOT NOIR 2017 (red). Full-bodied, with flavors of raspberry jam, baked strawberries, and cocoa. Then layers of cranberry, rose, and vanilla. Long lingering finish. California Pinot is more fruity than Burgundy, with a mild acidity. Easy to drink through meals. California's Cabernet Sauvignon can be sometimes tiring to drink, but Pinot is more gentle.
For the Chinese salad, added rice noodles, zha cai (Szechuan) pickles and lots of pak choi. At the supermarket in Hawaii, it was listed as Chinese parsley (cilantro).
Mapo Tofu was also a delicious Chinese night, perfect with red wine.
