雪が舞う朝の京都。東山や比叡山が、白いきぬかけの山に。京都タワーとドラマチックな空。

A light snowy morning in Kyoto.  The Higashiyama and Hieizan mountains were covered in white snow.  Kyoto Tower and the dramatic sky.

お昼は「加賀屋」へ。金沢料理のレストラン。

Went to "Kagaya", the Kanazawa cuisine restaurant.

「花籠弁当」。お造り、焼き物、煮物、揚げ物、日本海の幸は全てが美味しい。

The "Hanakago Bento (lunch box)".  Sashimi, grilled fish, simmered fish, fried fish, and all other delicacies from the Japan Sea were delicious.

そして金沢の郷土料理「治部(じぶ)煮」。鴨肉や麩などを煮込み、わさびを乗せて頂く。名前の由来には諸説あるが、そのうちの一つがフランス料理のジビエから来たものという説。出汁、醤油、砂糖、酒で甘辛く煮た具に、たっぷりめのわさびが絶妙にマッチしている。金沢は小京都。

And then had "Jibu-ni", a local dish from Kanazawa.  It is made by stewing duck meat and fu and served with wasabi.  There are many explanations of the origin of the name, one of them is that it comes from the French cuisine of gibier.  The ingredients are simmered in sweet and spicy soup stock, soy sauce, sugar, and sake, and the generous amount of wasabi is a perfect match.  Kanazawa is called a small Kyoto.

世界文化遺産下鴨神社(賀茂御祖神社)へ。午後から晴れて空が青く美しい。

Went to Shimogamo Shrine (Kamomioya Shrine), a world cultural heritage site.  The afternoon was sunny and the sky was a beautiful blue.

下鴨神社の中の摂社「河合神社」。初代天皇神武天皇の母、玉依媛命(たまよりひめのみこと)を祀る美の神社。

Kawai Shrine, an auxiliary shrine of Shimogamo Shrine.  It is a shrine of beauty dedicated to Tamayorihime no Mikoto, the mother of Emperor Jinmu, the first emperor of Japan.

河合神社の中の末社「任部社(とうべのやしろ)」。導きの神、八咫烏命(やたがらすのみこと)を祀っている。

Toube-no-Yashiro is a subordinate shrine at Kawai Shrine.  Yatagarasu-no-mikoto, the god of guidance, is enshrined here.

八咫烏は脚が3本あり、約90年前の1931年から日本サッカー協会(JFA)のシンボルマーク。

The Yatagarasu has three legs and has been the symbol of Japan Football Association (JFA) since 1931, about 90 years ago.

夜ホテルで忘年会を。

Had a small year-end party at the hotel.

選んだワインは、赤と白。白は仏ローヌのLES DEUX ALBION BLANC。左岸ジゴンダスのワイナリーでトップ生産者のひとつらしい。自社畑のヴィオニエ、ピクプール、マルサンヌを中心にブレンドヴィオニエ特有の豊かなアロマやパンの香り、口に含むと、果実味と活き活きとしたフレッシュな酸。ローヌの白が大好きな理由は、このふくよかなボディと、酸のバランスにある。

The wines chosen were red and white.  The white wine was LES DEUX ALBION BLANC from the French Rhone.  Seems one of the top producers in the Gigondas winery on the left bank.  It is a blend of Viognier, Picpoul and Marsanne from their own vineyards.  The wine had a rich aroma of Viognier and bread, and on the palate, fruitiness and fresh acidity.  The reason of loving Rhone whites is because of this plump body and the balance of acidity.

赤は、豪Red Bridge Shiraz/Viognier 2017。葡萄品種は、シラーズとヴィオニエ。オーストラリア最古の家族経営ワイナリー「ヤルンバ」の兄弟会社が日本のレストラン向けに開発したワインだそう。黒系果実の香りに、シラーズ特有のスパイシーな香り。タンニンはスムースでミディアムボディ。調和型のワイン。

The red wine was Red Bridge Shiraz/Viognier 2017 from Austria, made from Shiraz and Viognier grape varieties.  It is a wine developed for Japanese restaurants by the brother company of Yalumba, Australia's oldest family-owned winery.  The wine had an aroma of black fruits with a spicy note characteristic of Shiraz.  The tannins were smooth and medium-bodied.  A harmonious wine.

Both wines were good so asked another ones.

いよいよ今日は年末大晦日。明日からは2021年。幸多き佳い年となることを望みたい。

Today was the end of the year, New Year's Eve.  Tomorrow would be the year 2021.  Hope it would be a happy and blessed year.
