From Naha to Sapporo, headed north Japan islands in winter. When arrived at New Chitose Airport, it was -11 ℃. The temperature difference with Naha was more than -30 degrees, and it was really cold. There was no snowfall but the road sign said "Zenibako (near Otaru) area closed due to snowstorm". As approached Sapporo, snowfall became noticeable, and changed to a completely snowy landscape.
Revisited the izakaya "Honoji" along the tram street. A very popular place opens from evening to midnight. The last time came here was before snow season.
Menu in December. Even though the owner chef cooks all foods alone, there are so many items and always get lost.
Steamed egg custard and "Kita no Katsu" sake. It's a local sake from Nemuro, and found it delicious when in Kushiro last time. It is not an expensive sake like Ginjo or Daiginjo, but has no oxidative flavor and is refreshing.
"Tachi (cod milt)" tempura with coarse salt.
Stir-fried asparagus with soy sauce butter. Excellent way of cooking with salt and soy sauce.
"Zangi (fried chicken)". Hokkaido's popular food. This is so juicy and delicious that always ask for it.
Stir-fried eggplant with meat miso.
Chopped rape blossoms, chef's service. It was late, but was very satisfied with the delicious vegetables, seafood, and meat from the north country. Japanese izakaya are always wonderful both in the north and south.
This morning started in Naha above 20 ℃, and the night came in the northern land below -10 ℃. Japan is a large country.
