Headed to Kouri Island. Kouri Ohashi Bridge was completed in 2005, and the remote island was connected to the main island.
Went to "AIRANDO" where could enjoy Fijian cuisine. A chef from Fiji and his wife from Okinawa are serving foods and services.
Bright colored menu.
Mango juice and Orion Beer. Mango juice went well with Fiji curry.
Fiji Island Chicken Stew. A cream stew with a scent of grilled chicken. This was not spicy.
Fiji shrimp curry. The scent of coconut is irresistible. As asked spicy one it was spicy.
From the roof terrace, can enjoy a good view of Kouri Ohashi Bridge.
Headed to Okinawa's largest "Nakijin Castle". The castle is 37,000 square meters wide, and its long wall like Great Wall is 1.5 km long. It is located on the Motobu Peninsula, an hour and a half drive north from Naha.
Okinawa in the 14th century was in the Gusuku period when three major powers, Kitayama, Nakayama, and Nanzan co-existed. Kitayama, based in Nakijin Castle, prospered for three generations in trade with Ming.
Went through the Heiromon gate made of stones. Since the stones of Kitayama are hard, the shape of the gate is different from the arches of the Nakagusuku Castle.
The main enclosure on the top floor is the central location of Nakijin Castle. It is also a place of residence and prayer.
A castle with beautiful curves of the stone wall. The inside is the place where the soldiers and horses stayed and were trained at that time.
Kitayama was attacked by the Nakayama forces that were based in Shuri Castle and Nakagusuku Castle, and was destroyed in 1416 and became under the control of the Nakayama forces. After subduing Kitayama, Nakayama set up a guard to manage the northern area and used Nakijin Castle as the guard's residence.
Gosamaru also participated in the subjugation of Kitayama, and was appointed as the first guardian of Kitayama. He stayed in the castle and maintained Nakijin Castle. Convinced that because of Gosamaru the curve of Nakijin Castle walls were elegant and splendid. Gosamaru's great-grandfather was old Nakijin Aji, who was destroyed by Kitayama in 1322. The subjugation of Kitayama was the revenge of his great-grandfather for Gosamaru.
The Ryukyu Kingdom, which became a unified nation, enjoyed peace and prosperity, but was attacked by the Shimazu clan, who had a lot of military experiences during the battles like Sekigahara, and subordinated without resistance (1609). Was it too early peace idiot.
Currently, Nakijin Castle is a famous place for cold scarlet cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms in Okinawa bloom earlier than the mainland, and the cherry blossom festival was held from late January to early February. It was very beautiful when visited by chance last spring.
Returned to the hotel and relaxed with Orion beer.
This time in Okinawa, got a quick view of the Ryukyu history. The Ryukyu Kingdom prospered by the relay trade in the Ming era, but after the Gusuku era, it neglected to prepare for the war and could not even resist the attack of Shimazu (1609), which was devoted to the war. It became Okinawa Prefecture due to the Ryukyu disposition by the Meiji government (1879), and was further occupied by the United States (1945).
When passed by Kadena Air Base today, jet fighters were constantly taking off and landing with a roaring sound. It should be remembered that there are two nuclear-weapon states in East Asia that are preparing for the war, and the reality is that they are aiming to change the borders, and there is an immediate risk.
