It snowed again last night, and when woke up in the morning, Mt. Moiwa was completely covered with snow.
In the evening, headed to Sapporo Factory, close to Oodori Park. It is a complex commercial facility built on the site of the first Japanese beer factory "Sapporo Pioneer Commission Brewery" built in 1876 (Meiji 9) by Hokkaido Pioneer Commission.
If walk a little further to the east, will find the Sapporo Beer Garden complex, but the Sapporo Factory complex is closer to central Sapporo.
The early dusk of Chimney Square, a landmark of the birthplace of Japanese beer, evoked nostalgia.
Went to "Bier Keller at Sapporo Pioneer Commission" at the Brick building. It uses three tunnels that were added as a storage for beer barrels in 1907.
Genghis Khan menu (all-you-can-eat menu is not included).
The Altbier and unfiltered beer glasses of "Pioneer Commission Beer" that enjoyed at Sapporo Beer Garden the other day. "Sapporo Pioneer Commission Brewery" continues to brew beer by smaller scale now in the corner here and offers freshly brewed "Pioneer Commission Beers". Craft beers here should be delicious.
Ordered 4 kinds of lambs (raw lamb, soy sauce, salt, miso) and raw lamb. Especially the lambs in salt and miso are delicious.
Lambs are grilled in the inner mountain part and vegetables in the outer flat part at Genghis Khan pot. Lamb is grilled and fragrant, and vegetables are pan-fried and fluffy. This was the second time after the first experience at Sapporo Beer Garden the other day, and both are delicious. Genghis Khan in Hokkaido grills mainly lamb, but beef, pork, chicken chould be grilled in the same way. So ordered a Genghis Khan pot from an internet shop to try it at home.
Christmas begins in November at Sapporo Factory, and a huge Christmas tree brought from Hiroo Town in Tokachi is displayed until the end of December. Fantastic.
In 1869 (Meiji 2), the northern land, which had been called "Ezo" for a long time, was renamed "Hokkaido" and Hokkaido Development Commission was established. The beer factory was built in 1876 (Meiji 9) in a corner of the Hokkaidō Development Commission (North 2 ko East 4 chome, the current location of Sapporo Factory). It's been about 150 years since then. Nowadays, "Sapporo" is known by "beer", and its roots are in the pioneer beer factory. A day in a northern country to remember the history of the Meiji era, over 150 years ago.
