Blessed with beautiful weather, went to a winery near Sapporo. First, Fujino Winery in Minami Ward.
They are particular about the wine manufacturing methods, use grapes and wild yeast homegrown and purchased from contract farmers in Hokkaido, and finish them without filtration. Heard that their aim is to make wines close to nature, with a minimum of sulfites (antioxidants) for carefully selected fruits.
They also make wines in world's oldest winemaking method, which has long been a boom in the world, of brewing in Georgia, by brewing in a large pots called Kvevri. The pots are special products from Shari, Hokkaido. Orange wine on the right.
Actually bought a Pinot & Chardonnay jam, not wines made by the world oldest method. When opened the jam later day, found that the sugar content of the north grown grape jam was low.
Next went to Hakkensan Winery, a few kilometers away.
Mt. Hakkensan and their vineyard. they said they would open a restaurant this summer near the vineyards.
Wine tasting was stopped due to coronavirus.
Snow started falling in Sapporo in the evening. In the snow, went to the authentic French restaurant, "Le Gentilhomme".
Salad of fresh vegetables from the Makkari village. The delicious and it waked up.
Tokachi beef steak as the main dish two. Tokachi beef is delicious.
Mont Blanc cake as the desserts one.
Dessert cakes as the dessert two. Enjoyed little pieces of all.
Finally, Minardies with espresso.
Talk to the restaurant sommelier about wine. Le Gentilhomme has a lot of wine since it opened 30+ years ago and offers them at reasonable prices. He also talked about SeicoMart's wines; he likes especially the sparkling wine from the G7 series, which is delicious at a reasonable price.
SeikoMart's wines were later found to be shipped anywhere in Japan from SeikoMart Online. Moreover, shipping fee is free when buy 12 bottles. Bought them for "stay at home" against coronavirus.
