今日も朝から晴天。トマムから道東に向かう。途中から見る日高山脈の遠景。

It was also sunny today from the morning.  Headed east from Tomamu.  A distant view of the Hidaka Mountains seen from the driving road.

阿寒湖は氷結しており、まるで白い氷のグラウンド。スノーモービルで乗入れている人も。

Lake Akan was frozen and was like a white ice ground.  People enjoyed driving snowmobiles on the frozen lake.

道東旅行の一番の目的地、世界でも屈指の透明度を誇る摩周湖アイヌ語で「神の湖」(カムイ・トー)」と呼ばれるだけあり、冬でも綺麗なブルーの佇まい。第1展望台からの眺め。正面は斜里岳

Lake Mashu, the most important destination for the travel to east Hokkaido, has the highest transparent water in the world.  The lake is called as God's Lake or “Kamui To” in the local Ainu people's language, and has a beautiful blue appearance even in winter.  View from the observation deck.  The mountain over the lake is Mt. Shari.

深いカルデラ湖で、上から覗き込むように眺める為、思わず吸い込まれるような美しさ。周囲20kmの湖を取り囲む外輪山は高さ300~400mあり、斜度は45度の急斜面という。摩周岳(カムイヌプリ)が従える高い絶壁と、「摩周ブルー」と称される青い湖水。人を寄せつけない神域のような姿に、惹きつけられる。

Looked into the deep caldera lake from the top and felt diving into the blue lake.  The outer mountains, which surround a lake 20km around, are 300-400m higher in elevation and have a steep slope of 45 degrees.  Amazed by the high cliffs of Mt. Mashu (Kamuinupuri) and the blue lake water called "Mashu Blue".  The amazing natural sanctuary that keeps people away.

摩周湖周辺は、摩周蕎麦が有名。店はいくつかあるが、老舗の「両国」に。

Lake Mashu area is also known with Mashu soba (noodle).  There are several good soba restaurants, and went to the long-established "Ryogoku".

夕陽と共に釧路に到着。

釧路は炉端焼き発祥の地。今回の道東旅行の目的地の一つ、名店「万年青(おもと)」へ。東京神楽坂にも支店があるが、やはり釧路本店へ。

Kushiro is the birthplace of fireside grilling restaurants, another important destination of the trip to east Hokkaido.  Went to the famous fire grilling restaurant "Omoto".  They also have a branch store in Kagurazaka, Tokyo, but better to be there in Kushiro.

まずはおでん。出汁が綺麗。

First, oden Pot-au-feu.  The broth is beautiful.

Roasted Kinki fish.  Cooking condition and salting are the state of arts.
